A guitar is a personal thing and it should play right for you, seeking the lowest action or the flattest neck isn't always right. I will set up your guitar so it plays right for you.

A setup includes- a quick assessment of how you play, so that: neck adjustment, intonation, string, and pickup height can all be adjusted for you, I will also give a general clean-up and check over.

Provide your own strings or I can add them to the cost.

Set up includes adjustments to neck, action, intonation, fret clean, general clean and oil for roseweood board, check over and clean of electric and other minor work.

Set ups and fret work details:

• Standard Set Up for Electric guitars and bass: £70
  Includes: neck adjustment, fret polish and board oil if needed, action, intonation, minor nut and fret levelling

• Standard Set Up for Acoustic and Floyd rose guitars: £85
  Includes: neck adjustment, fret polish and board oil if needed, action, intonation, minor nut and fret levelling

• Deluxe set up: £130
  Includes a full strip and clean of guitar

• New hand made nut in various materials: £150
  Includes standard set up (neck adjustment, fret polish and board oil if needed, action, intonation, minor nut and fret levelling)

• Full fret level, crown and polish: £160
  Includes standard set up (neck adjustment, fret polish and board oil if needed, action, intonation, minor nut and fret levelling)

• Refret: starting from £350

Prices do not include strings, but note that there is a wide range of strings available at a discounted price when used in any work.

We offer full refret and rewiring services.

Want to take your guitar to the next level? Perhaps you want a built-in pedal? New pickups? Or, a new set of tuning pegs? Whatever your dream modification is, we can make it happen!

Price examples:

• Installation of full set of pickups in a Strat: £120

• Installation of full set of pickups semi hollow guitar with access through the F holes: £180
  Includes a standard set up (neck adjustment, fret polish and board oil if needed, action, intonation, minor nut and fret levelling) but does not include pickups (which we can help you source).

• Full rewiring (with a 50% discount on setup): includes new pots (CTS as standard), capacitors (orange drop as standard but can be upgraded to various paper in oil caps), a new jack socket, new selector switch (CTS as standard), hand wired clean wiring, fitting and testing.

Price by guitar model, for example:

• Tele £90

• Strat £140

• Les Paul £175

• F hole Gibson style £220

• Full rewiring and upgrade service for Jazzmaster and Jaguar guitars (aimed at making the various switching options more usable): starts at £140

All other electrics mods and rewires are available, including some of the more complex set ups used on various guitars such as Ibanez.

Installing most hardware (such as a new bridge) will have to include a standard setup.

Looking to give your guitar a full makeover?

Beside setup, repairs and modification, we offer a full or partial guitar refinish service here at Rigby Music, to turn your instrument into the guitar of your dreams.

Guitar Refinish and Colour services:

• Unfinished Fender style body: £250 (if guitar body is provided)
  We can help you find a body if you need one!

• Full refinish of a Fender style guitar: £375
  Includes full strip down of guitar, current finish removed, guitar sprayed in a colour of your choice, rebuilt and set up.

• A Gibson style guitar: starts at £400

• Bursts and sparkles add-on: £50

• Top spec relic: £75

• Neck refinishing: £150
  Includes strip and refinish in choice of gloss or matte; vintage or clear relicing can be added for £35.

Guitars can be finished in either nitro or poly for the same price.
Poly is a lot more hard wearing but will not age or relic like nitro.
